Casa de Luna case study · 2023–now

Whimsical enough for a farm school. Professional enough to enroll.

A Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool in Riverside, CA, with an indoor classroom, an outdoor art studio, a life-sized playhouse, and a mini farm.

01Where it started

A brand-new school and a Canva font.

Stephany was just opening, and all she had was "Casa de Luna" typed out in a Canva font. Like most new owners, she didn't know exactly what she wanted, just that it had to feel special. I'd already seen the space in person (my daughter was the perfect age to enroll), so I knew the vibe before I drew a thing.

And I knew the cherry on top from day one. I asked Stephany if her daughter Sage had any drawings, because I wanted them in the brand.

02The vibe

Farm school, not old-timey.

An organic farm school feel, but modern, a little cutesy, and made for parents who notice design. And because it's a school, I designed it thinking ahead to the merch, signage, and paperwork families would actually hold.

03The details

Sage's drawings, all over it.

These are the originals Sage drew. The butterfly, Luna, and the art studio all ended up in the brand.

I pulled the pieces I needed from her drawings and cleaned them up, so they'd hold up in print, on merch, and at every size.

The type is the hero of the primary logo, so I only pulled one of Sage's smaller drawings into it (the butterfly) and added my own hand-drawn star to match.

For the secondary logos, I used Sage's more detailed drawings: their mini horse, Luna, and the art studio. The star and butterfly stay on every version, so they all feel like one family.

04The website

Easy for parents, still whimsical.

The site needed to feel established and professional without losing the whimsy. It's easy to navigate, so parents see right away what a day looks like, how to enroll, and what it costs.

Then Stephany texted me: Casa de Luna had won a grant, out of 170+ Riverside County businesses that applied. The awards night was a few weeks away, and she wanted to show up in Casa de Luna merch. So I got started that same day.

That became the 2026 collection: two shirts and two dad hats, all built around "A space made for wonder, where play is the way."

The next-morning photos.

Every time I make her something, Stephany texts me photos the next day. The first sticker set sold out the next day. After the awards night, she sent a photo of 13 people wearing the first 2026 shirt.

06The print

The stuff families actually hold.

Because it's a school, so much of the brand lives on paper: the sign out front, the hiring poster, event flyers, the parent handbook, the forms teachers fill out every week, the graduation program, and a certificate for every kid. I made all of it look like it came from the same place as the logo.

07What happened

From one class to a second location.

Once she was fully branded and we went hard on social, enrollment took off.

  1. Opening dayOne class, 3 days a week
  2. 2024Two classes, back-to-back, 4 days a week
  3. 20255 days a week, with a long session and shorter sessions every day
  4. 2026A second location, opening soon

And in 2026, Casa de Luna was one of 8 small businesses picked for the Altura Foundation's Small Business Empowerment Grant, out of 170+ applicants across Riverside County.

New clients find us through Casa de Luna all the time. When my inquiry form asks why they want to work with us, a lot of them say it's because of what we did for Casa de Luna: one look at the logo and they get the whole school.
