Friends since high school.
Sydney and I go way back to high school. She's done my tattoos, so when I reached out about getting another one, I found out she was about to open her own piercing studio.
I offered to help with the brand, and we started with the heart of it: her logo and her colors. That was December 2021.

Retro, loud, and a little sparkly.
Sydney loved old-school retro scripts, so I sent her a few directions in January 2022. She picked the bubbly script right away, then gave me the one note that shaped everything: this logo was going on her wall, and her wall was bright green.
So the colors would definitely have to show.

So the final one sits on a thick black outline and shadow, in lime, orange, and sky blue, with sparkles around it, and holds its own on that green. It came with a quick guide to which file to use where, since Sydney was the one putting it on everything.

The four versions: full color, inverse, black, and white
Made to pop on bright green.
The logo went up big on her front windows, the front room glows orange with the logo in neon, and the lime from her walls runs through everything.

Sydney's work, from her site · the last one's my ear
The first site, 2022.
Right after the logo, we started on the website. The studio was still under construction, so I laid out the whole thing with her Instagram photos as placeholders until the real ones were ready. We kept pricing off that first site too, so it couldn't go out of date and people would reach out to book instead. Over the next couple of years I kept it updated with new pages and new info.

The original site, before the redesign
Same brand, new vibe.
In 2025, Sydney wanted the site to feel more high-end and not look exactly like the studio, so we pulled back on all the green. Black and white, a cleaner, less funky header font, and just a pop of lime so it's not boring. We also reworked the appointments page and started building her online store, which is still in the works.
April 2025 · planning the redesign
Yes, it hurt. No, I don't regret it.
This year she came back for stickers: something to pass out on Friday the 13th, and something to sell at the counter, because people ask for stickers all the time. These might be my favorite thing I've made for her.

Four years in, and still adding to it.
It started as one logo for a friend. Now it's the walls, the windows, the website, and the stickers people take home.
